We've drafted a message for you to send to your MP.
It's quick and easy to send.
As one of your constituents, I am writing to ask you to represent my views and pledge your support to #EndChildFoodPoverty by writing to the Prime Minister.
When the Government introduced holiday clubs and more generous fruit and veg vouchers last year, they demonstrated that they recognised the scale of the problem and sympathised with the views of not only Marcus Rashford but the 1.1 million people that signed his petition.
there is still a long way to go to make sure that no child goes hungry in this country.
I am concerned about the rising number of children living in poverty in our constituency. Nearly half of children trapped in food poverty are currently excluded from the food programmes that were designed to protect them.
This year, more than ever, we need to support children to get back on track. We all agree that children going hungry isn’t right, and we also understand the benefits that nutritious food can have not only on concentration in the classroom but on long-term health.
This Government can guarantee that every child at risk of going hungry gets some good food every day by expanding eligibility for Free School Meals and Healthy Start and committing to long-term funding for the Holiday Activities and Food Programme. If the Government acts now, it has the power to end child food poverty in the UK. Surely that’s a legacy worth celebrating.
So, as my representative, I ask you to write to the Prime Minister to encourage him to support Marcus’ plan and make children’s wellbeing our priority.
